Person of the Year 2011 TIME

TIME poll to choose the person of the year has closed and Premier Recep Tayyip Erdo?an leads the results with 122,931 votes. Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdo?an completed the Person of the Year 2011 poll of the US Time magazine in the first place.

Football player Lionel Messi came in second with 74,415 votes, while the slogan “99 Percent” that emerged with the Wall Street protests became third by receiving 61, 388 votes.

Every year, Time carries out a poll on who should be the person of the year, however it chooses the person who will be on the cover of the magazine.

Erdo?an ranked first in the poll last year, however, Wikileaks’ founder Julian Assange topped the list at the last minute, giving way to debates. Then, editors of the magazine decided to put Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, on the cover of the magazine.

Time will announce the Person of the Year 2011 within this week.
