Hercules smuggled to the US years ago

The top of the “Weary Heracles” or Hercules smuggled to the US years ago has come back home on board the plane of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdo?an.

The efforts and negotiations of long years to bring back to Turkey the smuggled statue which was seen at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts five years after it had been whisked out of Turkey illegally, have finally paid off.

Prime Minister Erdo?an brought the top of the statue on his plane while returning home from an official visit to the US for the UN General Assembly meetings.

The statue was consigned to the care of the Antalya Culture and Tourism Provincial Directorate.

The bottom of the statue which has been on display at the Antalya Museum will be united with the top by experts and Hercules will be displayed as one piece on the lands it truly belongs to. Source – TRT
