Scots wakes up now
We all know hard to know that there is a amazing country called Scotland and many people even dosent know there is one well this is to complicated to explaine here but right now soon we might know more about this amazing country soon because they will have their own domain name on the internet and everyone will know more because all classed under .co.uk but dont ask me why?
With new applications for top level domains due in 2012, the Scottish Government is renewing its push for a Dot Scot (.scot) domain and has asked the UK Government to support the application because as we think Scottish developers, designers wake up now but its not late because so nice and amazing place to be Scotland.
A Dot Scot domain has a powerful role to play in the branding of Scottish products for export – with seafood, venison, Harris Tweed, knitwear, fashion, Scotch whisky, golf, and marine energy innovations – not to mention Irn Bru and Tunnocks Teacakes among many others – are all location-specific producers whose translation to a Dot Scot domain would immeasureably strengthen the brand for other manufacturers.
While a Dot Scot domain would of course be popular with nationalists, this feeling and its expression in affinity registrations like taking a Dot Scot address, does not have to imply a separatist direction of travel.
The best teams are formed from those sufficiently sure of themselves to be helpful and generous to others. Whatever way the independence vote eventually goes, a Dot Scot domain will be a clear economic driver – and that is the immediate need.
