Romanian coach Gheorghe Hagi
Galatasaray announced on Friday that the club has terminated the agreement of Romanian coach Gheorghe Hagi. Galatasaray has been suffering from its worst season ever, with 13 defeats under the helm of coach Hagi, who replaced Dutchman Frank Rijkaard after dismal results in the middle of the ongoing season’s first half in October.
The team currently stands in 11th place, trailing the leader Fenerbahçe by 27 points, and it does not have any remaining hopes to succeed in the domestic league. The contracts of the two assistant coaches, Bogdan Vintila and Giovanni Melchiorre have also been cancelled.
The departure of Hagi, the team’s legendary midfielder, also marked the end of the second Hagi era as he coached the team in the 2004-2005 season.
The club thanked Hagi for his labor during his term in a statement issued on the club’s official website.
His end has long been anticipated as expectations escalated to the highest level when the team lost against archrival Fenerbahçe last weekend at home. worldbulletin reported online.
