Brits pays millions to EU patients
Britain, accessing medical care will not be easy now as there are plans to kick out tourists who come to get medical care and cost the NHS millions.
Until an attempt is made to pay up, people who are foreigners and owe more than £1,000 for treatment will not be entertained.
Immigration Minister Damian Green said last night, “The NHS is a national health service – not an international one. If someone does not pay for their treatment we will not let them back into the country.”
Every year the NHS has to pay about millions for treating non-EU patients.
There are already attempts underway to slash deficits of the country and by making this move, this can be possible. According to ministers, Britain is being very generous when it comes to giving care free of cost to people from overseas.
It has however been stated that overseas patients will still get free emergency treatment. But it will not be easy from now on to get free medical care by people who are not from Britain as noose will be tightened around foreigners seeking medical care. GP visits will no longer be free for foreign patients.
Before being given an entry visa, non-EU migrants might have to make an attempt to prove their health insurance that was not done before. There will also be a change in the rules on the duration of time to be in UK for qualifying for free treatment.
