Flights to Turkey up £40

Many of British tourists will have to pay up to £40 more for their flights holidays to Turkey and other countries because one of the UK’s biggest tour operators announced a price rise prompted by the surging cost of oil and blame the oil price rises all over the World which will effect flight prices along with cost of holidays abroad. Thomas Cook will impose a £15 per person fuel surcharge for short-haul flights and an extra £40 fee for long-haul journeys on all new bookings made from today.

British media reported the company said the new charges had been forced upon it by a 40 per cent rise in the cost of fuel, which has soared in price because of the turmoil in the Arab world. Its decision is the latest blow to hit consumers and will heighten concern about the impact of rising oil prices amid warnings that the cost of a barrel could hit as much as $200 if the trouble spreads to other key exporters such as Algeria and Saudi Arabia.

A Thomas Cook spokesman said: “We’ve worked hard to keep the impact of the rising fuel costs on our holidaymakers to a minimum but the fuel levy is an unavoidable result of the rising price of oil.”

The surcharge will apply to all Thomas Cook flights and holidays, including those that it sells under the Airtours, Sunset, Manos, Club 18-30 and Neilson brand names however as you know this will effect many other flight prices same as Thomas Cook shortly because of oil prices.

This mean flights to Bodrum, Dalaman, Izmir and Istanbul, Alanya might cost little more now and this will effect self catering holidays more due cost of flights so look like will be more economic to have family package holiday deals for many British holiday makers.

UK`s biggest top travel agents Thomson and First Choice said the increase would apply as of this Friday on all new bookings whether a package deal or a flight only so if you have already booked your flights to Bodrum, Dalaman or Alanya certainly your tickets and booking wont get effected regarding to British media reports and good advice, book your flights to Bodrum or Dalaman Alanya before friday and avoid extra charges if you want to get little more cheap flights to Bodrum or Dalaman in Turkey by the way.

We all need to know that all other holiday companies are expected to follow suit. British Airways recently informed its customers that they would have to pay between £75 and £125 per seat in surcharges to long-haul destinations so before gets more expensive book your flights to Turkey quickly before this friday which mean before 4th March 2011.
